Judging other people is easy, almost too easy at times. Judging ourselves through the same lens however is much harder. If we spend more of our time every day ruthlessly assessing our own actions, we'll grow a lot faster and the world will be a more kind place.
Noticing greatness
I, like most of Australia, have spent the last month being captivated by the Matildas and what they have achieved. As I watched the games, read the content, and embraced the journey that the Matildas have been on, I was reminded countless times that this is relatively new for these superstars. That not that long... Continue Reading →
Movement is a Gift
Each year for the last three years, I've participated in a community challenge organised by Scott McGee at The Sisu Way called 'The Character Mile'. The Character Mile challenge is to run a mile every day for the month of December and as Scott explains: "One mile might not not seem like much for some,... Continue Reading →
Feed the Cows
As a career agriculture man, I live and breathe the importance of our 'non negotiable' jobs each day. Every day when we wake up we know there is a list of jobs that simply must be completed; rain or hail, breakdowns or flood, sickness or injury, no matter the resistance the job must be done.... The Urges
It's always there...the urge to give in to the easy way. The urge to give less than I am capable of. I either get better at fighting them or I don't. I either get stronger or weaker. There isn't really an in-between. There's just the hard way, the easy way, and my choice of action.... Continue Reading →
Responsibility
Thought of the week. We are completely and solely responsible for being ready for our adversities and opportunities. It's our job to build enough strength to face the bad and enough capability to grasp the good.
Good day
It took me a little while in my adult life to learn that it's never up to someone else to make sure I have a good day. No one else is going to wake up and decide that for me. That is on me. Sure, I still stumble from time to time and just want... Continue Reading →
Err on the side of more effort
I had an engaging conversation about effort and expectation today, and how the two relate to each other. The conversation was based around an expectation of extra effort vs what's stated to be required. I posed a simple question in return "What kind of person do you want to be? A person who gives extra... Continue Reading →
One less day
Every day I have one less day on this earth, one less opportunity to make an impact. If that thought can't motivate me to action, what will?
Overthinking
And sometimes the harder you look, the more uncertain the path becomes. I'm regularly tempted to overthink a problem to find an answer. Part of that over thinking has been why I haven't written an entry here for a while; too many thoughts, too many directions, too many uncertainties. Funnily enough, the constant thinking doesn't...
