Err on the side of more effort

I had an engaging conversation about effort and expectation today, and how the two relate to each other.

The conversation was based around an expectation of extra effort vs what’s stated to be required.

I posed a simple question in return “What kind of person do you want to be? A person who gives extra effort or one who doesn’t?”

There’s plenty of excuses out there for why it’s unfair to give extra effort; I mean why should you when no one else does, when there is no reward, or it’s completely unappreciated?

The answer to that always lies in who you want to be as a person.

My advice for what it’s worth; always err on the side of more effort, not less.

That’s the only way to get the potential call up to the winners table.
