A conversation around a fire can be as deep and as real as one can ever get.

Something about the way that the dance of the flame lubricates the mind to flow freely.

I got the chance to delve in to some of these recently as my Sister’s beautiful wedding.

As my cousin, my brother, and I got deeper and deeper on every topic under the sun, a couple of main points really stood out:

1 – Nearly all of our pain, in nearly every situation, comes from a failed expectation of somebody or something else.

2 – We can’t get better at this without expanding and reflecting on our perspective, as our individual perspective is the filter that we continually view the world through.

Expand your perspective by trying new things and challenging yourself often, swap your expectation for appreciation, and don’t forget to sit around a fire often and go deep with people that you respect.
