Present in nature

Go for a decent sized hike and get a little exhausted.

Sit down somewhere to rest and let the sun fall on your skin.

Notice how it feels. What patches are warm? Which ones are still cool?

Hear the noises. The birds chirping, the kangaroos bouncing, the wind in the trees.

See the grass swaying and the ants going about their business.

What are you sitting on? Is it comfortable or hard?

Are the trees around you enjoying the current weather? Are they dying or vibrant?

What colour?

Close your eyes and start to become aware of your breath.

Inhale through the nose, exhale through the nose.

Breath into your belly rather than your upper chest.

Slow it down.

Quiet, calm, and focused.

Where are you?

You’re not with the chores you need to do, not with the bills you need to pay, or the work tasks that you so desperately need to complete.

You’re not with the stress of the world or that of your life.

You are here, you are now.

Present.
