Pursue your potential.
This is one of my favourite calls to action.
It’s a gentle but firm reminder to not settle for my average, but to reach for my peak.
There are thousands of quotes similar to this one, all conveying the same message, but I believe that this message doesn’t always get heard right.
I believe – read: learned from my own experience – that when we hear hear that quote, that a lot of us then compare to someone great in our chosen field or area. Maybe not straight away but in our social media heavy world, it will be there at some stage.
I’ve been there, I’ve done it, I still do it.
It’s hard not to.
I don’t even know my own potential yet.
It may be to change the world, or it may be to be a great husband and father.
It may be both, or it may be completely different.
The lack of a stage, fame, money, or medals, does not detract from the nobleness of someone’s greatness.
The lack of plaudits should never stop me from the pursuit.
What a tragedy for someone to hide from their own greatness because they may not be the greatest.
A great parent is as important to this world as a great sport star.
Greatness is greatness, no matter the stage.
We praise the peak but it’s the base of the mountain that sustains its presence.
Don’t hide your greatness.
Don’t squander its potential because the bright lights elude you, we need greatness in all of its many forms.
