Journal entry from the top of the mountain after my walk up:
Morning walk at my local mountain to clear my mind and help me work through some of my most pressing thoughts.
Nature has a special way of making everything else melt away so that I can be present.
The sounds of the animals busying themselves about the place, the constant rustle of the leaves on the wind, and even the mosquito buzzing in my ear shot.
All present, all happening right here and now.
Careless to the pressures of past and future.
My thoughts keep trying to draw me out but nature keeps fighting to bring me back.
That’s natures superpower. It only exists in the present.
The same goes for every single thing in my life except for my mind, it all exists in the present.
Journal entry from the bottom after my walk down:
There’s always one big revelation for me while I spend time in nature and walking.
Presence and Discomfort usually go hand in hand.
Voluntary and Involuntary discomfort bring us in to the present more than anything else.
The discomfort of sitting still and meditating brings presence.
The discomfort of an ice bath brings presence.
The discomfort of getting up early to go hiking in nature brings presence.
The discomfort of not playing on my phone and being engaged with my family brings presence.
The discomfort of choosing journaling over easier choices brings presence.
The discomfort of sports and training brings presence.
Discomfort is not bad, it’s just one of the entry fees to the present.
