“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” Carl Jung
I was going back through my journal tonight for some ideas on what to write and came back across this quote and my thoughts on it.
“This is why self-awareness is so important. It has to start there or nothing can happen down stream. How do I keep developing self-awareness? I’m not entirely sure but I know that journaling and feedback certainly help. Continuing to read and expanding my thoughts won’t hurt either.”
Over the last 12 months since I wrote that, I can confirm that the best ways to increase and grow self-awareness is to journal, practice mindfulness, and seek feedback on strengths and weaknesses.
Each of these things are simple to start and really tough to commit to. I’m not going to tell you that you should do any of them but I will say that to purse your potential in life, there isn’t a choice. Self-awareness is key to levelling up in nearly every corner of our lives; sports, careers, relationships, parenting, leadership, business etc.
The top of the mountain is reserved for those willing to climb.
