Err on the side of kindness

“No matter how defeated you feel, no matter how pointless it may seem in the moment, always err on the side of kindness.”

This is something that has been in the front of my mind a lot over the last few weeks and months.

I honestly don’t even have much to write about it or proof to back up my thoughts but I genuinely feel like we have this urgent need to err on the side of kindness more often.

It’s something that I have to remind myself of often as it’s easy to get stuck in the dark, it’s easy to give up on people. People will give you plenty of reasons to do it. No matter what we think we see from the outside, we never really know someone’s complete situation.

If we give up on kindness, I fear we give up on all good and that’s not okay.

Don’t give up. Don’t stop giving. It will spread. A candle loses nothing by lighting another.

“No kind action ever stops with itself. One kind action leads to another. Good example is followed. A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees. The greatest work that kindness does to others is that it makes them kind themselves.” Amelia Earhart
