“Stop procrastinating and just get started.”
I promised myself at the start of this that I would write every single night and if something came up I would at least never miss 2 nights in a row. I had held that standard until this week. I could come up with excuses but at the end of the day I was just flat out tired the last 2 nights and had very little interest with firing up the laptop to write, instead choosing to get an extra hour of sleep each night.
So I started tonight’s writing session with the full intention of getting straight to work and creating something great to make up for the last two nights and I found myself just staring at the screen with no idea what to write. So I started flicking through some notes on my phone to see if anything caught my eye…..nothing.
Back to the movie that Piper and Amy were watching.
On to my phone to scroll and reply to messages.
Back to the movie.
Social Media.
Complain to Amy that I have nothing to write about tonight.
Back to social media….I’ve already seen that post. Why am I on this again?
Procrastination at it’s finest. Sound familiar?
Turn the tv off. Put the phone down.
Back to the laptop.
Write the date.
I need to build momentum, that’s how I get rolling.
Just start typing.
See above.
And now here I am, with a journal entry written.
These entries won’t always be great or inspiring or ground breaking. Sometimes they will just be average sentences of words. It’s the momentum that counts. Another strike of the hammer.
Procrastination is but a form of resistance that we all face on our journey up the mountain. Keep the momentum, fight the resistance.
Pursue your potential
