Hold the line

“Are people going to take advantage of the relaxed restrictions and cause a new problem?”

We seem to be at a tipping point. The COVID-19 numbers are quite low here in Australia and from my purely non-medical perspective, seem to be under control. The logical next step for a nation in economic struggle is to try and relax some restrictions and make a game plan to step out into our new normal.

As of Saturday the 1st of May, in Queensland, there are a few more options back open to us but they are still quite controlled. We have battled through a dark tunnel for what seems like forever, even though its only been a couple of months, and we can see the light, ever so faintly up ahead. Now is not the time to stop and sit in the dark.

Like any goal that we pursue, we would hope not to quit when we are so close to breaking through. We would never want to lose all of the hard work for a moment of weakness. Imagine stopping a marathon with a couple of kilometers left because the last 40 have been hard.

Don’t step over the line this weekend. Hold it with the integrity you have held the last 7 weeks. Now is not the time to throw your hands in the air and give up. Lives and our livelihoods depend on it. Your future depends on it. My future depends on it.

Hold the Line.

“Just that you do the right thing. The rest doesn’t matter. Cold or warm. Tired or well-rested. Despised or honoured. Dying…or busy with other assignments.” Marcus Aurelius
