The fallacy of safety

I’ve been following Logan Gelbrich’s writings and beliefs for quite some time and one of the theories that he has held true for that period is that so many people give up chasing their peak expression or passion for a life of safety in a career that they are told “Is the better option”.

Is it just me or did the world just give him a gold platter case study? Not that he would have wished for such a circumstance to show it.

None the less, here we are. So many of the things that we took for absolutes, shattered in front of our faces. Careers, pastimes, hobbies, every day freedoms, and the big one, our health, all more fragile than we ever cared to admit.

So I propose, as Logan would and has, that if these things are as fragile as they have proven, why would we not pursue our peak passions with our time on earth? Why would we waste time doing anything that made us miserable? Why would not give our best version to the world?

Even little bits each day absolutely dedicated to a craft that we told ourselves wasn’t worth it or wouldn’t get us anywhere. That other people told us was silly and that we should just focus on the solid, stable career.

The world has given us a nudge, an ugly nudge, but a nudge.
