We have an opportunity

I know, I know….I missed yesterday’s blog, and in the first week of building the habit too. I didn’t forget. I made a conscious choice that spending my night completely engaged with my wife and girls on our fourth Wedding Anniversary was more important.

So now we are back to it.

We have an opportunity here to grow and I’m extremely excited about it. I know that probably seems weird considering our current predicament but I truly believe that we, as a society, will be better for it.

We will lose loved ones and go through some dark times in the coming months, I don’t see how we go any other way, but we will learn so much from this. We were all too comfortable. The world was too comfortable. Comfortable makes us soft and ill prepared for a fight and that’s exactly what we are in right now, a fight for our health and our lives. This will steel us. This will make us stronger. We will be more prepared for the next adversity now. We will prioritise health and fitness as they are things that directly relate to how well we fight the current virus. We will prioritise mental toughness and resilience as they will help us make better decisions under pressure. We will prioritise character and acts for the common good as this would have stopped the selfish and greedy panic buying that we have witnessed. We will lead more willingly. We will choose strength. We will be ever grateful for connections and our freedoms. We will love more and hate less. We will learn to shine our light in the dark.

What an amazing world we will create.

To follow up the above, I have no idea if this will happen or not but I read this quote by Abraham Lincoln the other day:

“The best way to predict the future is to create it.”

After I read it I knew that sitting around hoping that people would learn and grow wouldn’t do much. Hope would be pointless in this situation. I’m going to try to create that future, in myself first and hopefully with anyone who reads these entries and follows along with the values we believe in.

That creation starts right now with the attempt to write content that stirs the soul into action. Content like that from other authors was what lead me to begin this project and now it’s my turn to continue the passion.
