Well, It’s been awhile.

Hey everyone, as the age old saying goes “long time, no see”.

First we must apologise for our complete lack of content for the past several months. Without trying to make excuses, between planning a wedding, events and just general life duties the first thing to suffer was our blog and social media pages. The Pride has been in our minds the entire time with new ideas, directions and goals swirling around constantly but we decided that whilst the wedding planning was in full swing that the blog would be put on the back burner until we returned from our honeymoon. If you are interested yes, the wedding was amazing and yes, the honeymoon was great. Apart from the fact that we were threatened with Tropical Cyclone Zena and holed up inside our room for 4 of the days, Fiji is a magical place and we will surely visit again.

Between our last post and the wedding we kept up out training plans, completed a couple more Obstacle Races ( Spartan Super, True Grit, Raw Challenge and Stampede), Bridge to Brisbane (10km run), The 100km Brisbane to Gold Coast bike ride, 2015 Great Cycle Challenge and the 2016 CrossFit® Open. I picked up a back injury in the 4th week of the Open and was unable to finish week 5 which was disappointing. Amy was also unable to finish week 5 but for a much happier reason. We are proud to say that we are expecting our first child and the morning sickness (that I know now isn’t just in the morning) was making her a bit too uncomfortable to complete it.

Whilst training for these events we started dabbling in Functional Fitness and CrossFit® style workouts and we have fallen in love with that style of training. A lot of our training will now centre around this with the occasional specialised training for whatever event is coming up. Amy will be scaling and modifying her workouts now that she is pregnant so you can look forward to a blog from her about how she has been attacking workouts and her active lifestyle whilst pregnant. As for me since the open and with the wedding, honeymoon and returning home keeping me busy, I somewhere lost my motivation for training hard and consistently. I have kept up being “active” since returning but have struggled to find the intensity that I was training with a few months ago. It’s something I am working hard on now and part of that is setting myself goals to achieve over the next year or two. There are two big goals I will be aiming for with more thrown in over time. The first will be to finish in the top 30% of Australia in the 2017 CrossFit® Open. For the second I am in talks with a friend of mine to participate in the 2017 48km Kokoda Challenge at the Gold Coast, which i will look forward to being my hardest challenge thus far.

Now onto the Blog. We will continue to use the website/ social media accounts to document our fitness journey, providing weekly blogs on how we are going/ interesting things we have learnt/ favourite Podcast episode of the week and anything else we feel like talking about at the time. We would also like to start doing potential interviews with interesting and informative people to help us on our journey and thus helping you on your own journey of health and fitness. There is an online store in the works for Pride Active apparel so keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram pages for when that drops. You may have noticed a new tab in the menu called The P.A.W (Pride Active WOD) As part of my weekly training I like to schedule a bit longer, harder workout once a fortnight or so as a sort of challenge to myself. Soon I will post the workout I chose for the week and hopefully if anyone is interested in following along and having a crack once a week we can share results.

Ultimately our plan for The Pride Active is to create a community of like minded individuals interested in health and fitness and to inspire people to begin their own journeys to becoming better versions of themselves.

Until next time keep an eye on the Gallery page as Amy won’t be training as hard she will probably be taking more photos (like she needs a reason to). Also regularly check the Event Calendar as we will continually update that as we add more events. Check our Contact Us page for our social media handles to keep up with day to day happenings.

Thanks for hanging around this long everyone.

Keep fit, Stay Active

I’m just going to leave this photo of Fiji here to take us all to that happy place!
